A cinematic teaser trailer for S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2 debuted in 2020 during an Xbox Showcase, garnering a positive reception from fans desperate for the series to continue. Canceled just a few months before the expected release, development restarted in 2018 with Microsoft eventually investing in the title to secure Xbox exclusivity. Originally planned to launch in 2012, the project has experienced a troubled development cycle. Little is currently known about the latest S.T.A.L.K.E.R game. Shadow of Chernobyl launched in 2007 and was quickly followed by Clear Sky in 2008 and Call of Pripyat in 2009. While the jump in size is significant, this is likely due to the original trilogy's age. Call of Pripyat, the direct sequel to the original game, also required roughly 10GB of storage space. The first game, S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Shadow of Chernobyl, required only 10.5GB of hard drive space while the standalone expansion, Clear Sky, required a straightforward 10GB. In comparison to older games in the S.T.A.L.K.E.R franchise, the upcoming sequel is gargantuan. Related: How STALKER 2 is Pushing the Boundaries of Open-World Games
